series of fruit

This Small Plates 
series began with ....

a small plate, a square 
ceramic piece in vibrant
turquoise, a favorite color.

After I brought it home
and set it on the counter
to enjoy, I thought how
great a bright yellow lemon
would look, and, so
it began.  Now there
are the lemon, two pears,
tangerines, a papaya
and a slice of watermelon.
